LA LITHOGRAPHIE (en Anglais)
The goal of the lithography area is to research lithography and expand its access to artists interested in contemporary lithographic practices. The area is centered on the innovation and adaptability of lithography in the 21st century while protecting its historical integrity. It aims to integrate new technologies, modern materials, and more environmentally friendly options. Its curriculum is structured to facilitate the learning of lithographic techniques from the introduction to polyester litho plates, to intermediate work in photo litho plates, to advanced work in stone lithography. This learning path enables artists to explore lithography while expanding their visual vocabulary and enhancing their creative practice.
Intro to Lithography
Polyester litho plates
Ongoing class. 16 hours. 6 open seats. Minimum 4 people. 420 CHF.- non-members / 400 CHF.- members
This class introduces the basic principles, tools, and materials of polyester plate lithography. Artists will experience direct drawing on polyester plates, discovering control and spontaneous mark-making with various lithographic drawing materials, as well as digitally generated and photographic work. The focus will be on polychromatic prints as the artists learn to handle plates, create artwork, prepare inking stations, use registration systems, and print. This course is suitable for artists without prior lithography experience.
Intermediate Lithography
Photo litho plates
On-demand class. 16 hours. 6 open seats. Minimum 4 people. 420 CHF.- non-members / 400 CHF.- members
This class introduces the basic principles, theories, tools, and materials of photo litho. This photo-mechanical process enables the artist to use both hand-drawn and photographic/digital images.
Advanced Lithography I
Stone litho
On-demand class. 16 hours. 4 open seats. Minimum 4 people. 420 CHF.- non-members / 400 CHF.- members
This class introduces the basic principles, theories, tools, and materials of stone lithography. Artists learn to prepare the stone, draw the stone, process the stone to stabilize the image, and print the stone.
Advanced Lithography II
Stone litho
On-demand class. 16 hours. 4 open seats. Minimum 4 people. 420 CHF.- non-members / 400 CHF.- members
This class introduces advanced technical details of the stone lithography process. Artists further develop skills in stone grinding, pin registration systems, paper handling, and the production of a limited edition of lithographs.
Course Format
4 blocks of 4 hours for a total of 16 hours. 2 blocks a week for 2 weeks.
Wednesday and Thursday from 17 h to 21h.
